Get to know your Instructors and Staff

 

                                      Sensei Francis Eng a.k.a Sensei Frank earned his black belt in August 2003. He is one of the oldest and longest members in this Piscataqua Dojo. He received his training with Sensei George Maldonado. He also trained in many events held by Cuong Nhu like Camp Budo training camps, seminars and local tournaments. He continues training with Shojin Dojo when doors are closed at Piscataway. He Joined Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Art Association in 1995. He teaches adult classes two nights in Piscataway (Piscataqua Dojo). He is certified in the Kid Safe Program. His goal is to promote peace and health around the world. He also teaches Tai Chi Quan, Chinese kungfu and weapons, a way to improve chronic disease, stay fit and strong and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sensei Francis (Frank) continues to learn the Chinese art of healing and all style of fighting. Each year he performs and teaches the Chinese cultural Lion Dance at the Chinese Festival. Sensei Frank is the head instructor for Cuong Nhu at Piscataqua Dojo replacing Sensei George as of Jan 1, 2008.  He is presently working on his next rank level to Nidan. 

Sensei George Maldonado born in 1954, holds the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt since 1995) in the Cuong Nhu Martial Arts Association. He studied under the late founder and Grandmaster of Cuong Nhu, O'sensei Ngo Dong, from 1986 to 1999. He has also studied under Grandmaster Ernie Cates, Master Danny Glover, and countless other instructors associated with Cuong Nhu. He was the first student to set foot in the "Shojin Cuong Nhu Karate" dojo in 1986. In 1994 he started the "Piscataqua Dojo" in Piscataway N. J. which he continued as the head instructor until Jan. 1 2008. He is now liaison between Piscataway Recreation Dept. and the Adult and Children's martial arts program. He is also certified with an extensive background check by Kid Safe. He now devotes all his time to the children's Piscataway Martial Arts program.

 

Sensei Suren (Surendra Kulkarni) is the latest addition to the Instructors at Piscataqua Dojo. He earned his Black Belt in April 2011 at the regional test held at Am Duong dojo in Goddard, MD. He is an active Cuong Nhu member since Jan 2003. Suren is Kids Safe certified through Piscataway Township and has under gone all required background checks. He attends almost all regional events and seminars hosted each year by Cuong Nhu, to gain valuable knowledge and experience and to improvise his skills. His teen-age son Amit is also a Cuong Nhu member and one Black Stripe Holder. As an Instructor at Piscataqua, Suren continues his training in Cuong Nhu and contribute to the dojo.

 

Suren's other interests include meditation, swimming and playing Tabla (Indian Percussion instrument). He strongly believes that, Cuong Nhu Philosophy helps him in every day life and principles like dedicated practice, perseverance and patience help him to stay focused in life.

Tju Makmur, (Mrs. M) is the mother of Mathew and Michael who are members of children's class and wife of Hanz Makmur. Tju (pronounced as Chu) is a resident of Piscataway with professional background in accounting. She is Kid Safe certified, and was an active volunteer at many of the township schools including Eisenhower, Knollwoood, and Martin Luther King. Mrs. M's organization skills are a welcome asset in our growing Dojo. Mrs. M handles the co-ordination of new student registration, childrens attendance records, uniform records and other dojo related administrative activities.
